There are big schools. There are small schools. Brimmer balances the best attributes of both to challenge, nurture, and empower our students.

Brimmer and May is an all gender private school that fosters active learners, compassionate leaders, and ethical global citizens from pre-kindergarten to high school. The ideal size of our school allows for personalized instruction in a student-centered, project-based learning environment.

Brimmer is big on academic resources and offerings for students: From core subjects to creative arts to social-emotional skill building. Yet our smaller scale is perfect for fostering a sense of community and connection.

Upper Elementary

Grades 2 - 5

Fostering independence and developing leadership skills while also learning to be effective collaborators are truly the underpinnings of our Upper Elementary academic and social programs. Exploration of STEAM disciplines, creative design, and real-world problem-solving are part of every student’s learning, both in and out of the classroom.

Middle School

Grades 6 - 8

Brimmer’s Middle School program focuses on building academic skills and creating a dynamic environment in which students can take on greater independence and initiative. Through experiential programs that enhance the classroom, we provide a multidimensional quality to student life. We nurture a love of learning in our middle-schoolers by offering a curriculum that helps them make sense of the world, and their place in it.

Upper School

Grades 9 - 12

Our rigorous college-preparatory program presents a challenging and engaging curriculum that balances course requirements with a wide range of electives, extracurriculars, signature diploma programs, and international travel experiences. With a mission to develop lifelong learners, ethical citizens, and contributors to a global society, we ensure our students have a smooth transition to college.

“I feel I received a world-class education at Brimmer. Amazing teachers that really care, with small class sizes that led to success in academics no matter where I started within a subject."

Small School, Big Plans

Recreation & Wellness Center

Central to our ability to meet the educational, social, emotional, and physical needs of our students are the physical spaces in which our community collaborates, competes, plays, and cares for one another. Health and wellness have long been a focus in all three divisions of the School, and while progress has been made on many fronts, significant investments are required in order to bring to life the School’s vision for excellence.

New Recreation & Wellness Center Coming in 2026

Fitness, Health & Wellness Suite

Event & Community Spaces

The new gymnasium will house one college regulation competition court and two practice/ competition courts, a multipurpose junior recreational space, two volleyball courts, 300-seat bleachers that greatly increase spectator capacity (formerly 50), a state-of-the-art fitness room, locker rooms for both home and visiting teams, and training facilities.

A suite of offices for athletic trainers, mental health and wellness counselors, the School nurse, the Athletic Director, and department staff.

Multi-Use Classrooms

Four to six additional classrooms for Middle and Upper School programming. These classrooms combined with the new junior gym will also address the need for an early childhood movement space and a dedicated, accessible home for Extended Day.

The entrance to the new building will offer a showcase lobby that doubles as social and study space. An ideal location for students to gather throughout the day, the lobby will also offer the perfect space for alumni functions and community events.
